PCRD Girls basketball league information

The purpose and focus of the PCRD youth Girls basketball league is to provide recreational opportunities in the sport 1st through 6th grade boys. Team goals should strive to improve their basketball skills using positive, fun practice methods while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment. Coaches are encouraged to develop age-appropriate practice plans, while teaching their players fundamental basketball skills including shooting, dribbling and passing. At the end of the league their are no trophies won or college scholarships handed out, but we do offer a $40 pizza party reimbursement.

Coaches and Parents Code of Conduct

This is a recreational league for youth. The purpose of this league is to teach sportsmanship, rule knowledge, teamwork, and basketball skills with maximum participation. The attitude and demeanor that youth display on the court and toward participants is a direct reflection of the coaching staff and their values. Please display sportsmanship before, during and after any contest.

Officials have been informed to be as instructional as possible when calling fouls and violations. They will attempt to educate players on the reason a foul or violation was called in an effort to teach our participants the rules, especially at the 1st-2nd & 3rd-4th grade levels. If you do not understand the official's ruling, please address them in a respectful manner and they will make the effort to answer your question or concern during a dead-ball period. Please be patient with officials and try to understand they are here to help both teams to better understand and play the game.

Any coach, parent or spectator who makes derogatory remarks toward any official, coach, player or staff member may be asked to leave the gymnasium. Repeated offenses will result in the offender being banished from the gymnasium for the duration of the league.

COACHES PLEASE REMEMBER WHAT YOU PERMIT, YOU PROMOTE!

Teams & Divisions

The PCRD Girls basketball league serves girls in the 1st through 6th grade. Our divisions are split into 1st-2nd grades, 3rd-4th grades, 5th-6th grades. We guarantee 8 regular season games in various locations including Fruitland, New Plymouth, Payette, Parma and Weiser. Games are played on Saturdays with varying game times starting at 9 and ending at 2:30. There are times when teams will play a double header or back-to-back games, it all is dependent upon the amount of teams in each division and gym availability. We work hard to provide enough coaches (per town, per division) that the team roster DOES NOT exceed 10 players, due to our mandatory substitution rule. Coaches will notify you of practice schedules, parent meetings, snack schedules and game days.
